930th Marine Strike Group
The 930th Marine Strike group is an Starfleet Marine Aerospace Fighter Wing assigned to the USS George Washington NCC-7374, a MacArthur Class Heavy Carrier.
The Starfleet Marine Corps is a group affiliated with STARFLEET, The international Star Trek Fan Association Inc. The SFMC (fictionally) is part of the Ground Forces that are rarely seen in the episodes but are assumed to be a part of the Naval Fleet of the United Federation of Planets.
We are members of STARFLEET. The corps does not have different requirements for membership, except that a STARFLEET Marine must be a member in good standing in STARFLEET. Although it does have a different name for each rank within the promotional system, and a different organizational structure than the Naval portion of STARFLEET, STARFLEET Marines are regular, dues paying members.
There are two statuses for the Marine to choose from. They are Active and Reserves.
Some STARFLEET members are Active Marines. These are members who are primarily active in the Ground Forces portion of the Fleet. They use Marine ranks and awards and represent the Marines at all times.
Some STARFLEET members are Marine Reserves. These are members who are active in the naval portion of the Fleet and with the Ground Forces area as well.
On the USS George Washington the 930th Marine Strike Group (formally known as the 130th Marine Strike Group) is primarily an aerospace unit in which all marines assigned have an aerospace Marine Occupational Specialty (MOS). These specialties include but not limited to Fighter Pilots, Shuttle Pilots, Aerospace Maintenance Crew, Command & Control and Electronic Warfare. Marine training is all accomplished through courses available at the STARFLEET Marine Corps Academy.
Besides taking part in chapter, Regional and Fleet-wide activities, the Marines of the 130th Marine Strike Group occasionally hold their own separate activities. These can be anything from paint ball or laser tag to fund-raising events for Toys for Tots, blood drives and working conventions.
